Reading Community Learning Centre (RCLC)
This friendly and informal Centre offers free first step learning opportunities to marginalised women from all minority ethnic communities and their pre-school age children through an on-site creche. Social activities and trips are organised from time to time to extend the range of experiences available to users and to foster friendships. The Centre offers an information and advice service to individual users needing support to resolve problems. It works closely with partner organisations to signpost users appropriately. The Centre provides an accessible venue to other partner organisations offering learning opportunities including English for Speakers of Other Languages. Some of this provision requires payment of a fee. The Centre welcomes women who want to volunteer. There are opportunities to help in the classroom, support women who may need help outside the classroom, organise social activities, help with admin jobs or book-keeping. The Centre has a Board of Trustees which is responsible for governance. Please contact us if you would like to know more.
