Sue Ryder (Berks, Bucks & Oxon)

At Sue Ryder, we believe that life's a journey. And on that journey people can face huge challenges. We provide expert and compassionate support for people living through life-changing illness. We are passionate about providing quality palliative and end of life care tailored to people’s needs and wishes.Founded in 1953 by Lady Ryder, Sue Ryder is a national charity providing health and social care services in local communities. It provides expert care to people with incurable illnesses and end of life needs in 7 hospices, 7 residential care centres and people's homes. The charity also supports families, friends and carers.  We look after people living with cancer, multiple sclerosis, Huntington's disease, Parkinson's disease, motor neuron disease, stroke, brain injury and other life-changing illnesses. Locally, Sue Ryder looks after patients and their families in Berks, Bucks and Oxon, through Nettlebed Hospice nr. Henley, Duchess of Kent House inReading, and community services in Newbury and Wokingham. Through these services we provide inpatient stays for people who require the expertise of a multi professional team to address complex symptom management problems. Alongside the inpatient facilities patients can be supported while at home through day therapy or outpatient clinics. The team of medical, nursing and allied health professionals seek to fulfil the physical, psychological and spiritual needs to achieve the best possible quality of life for patients whose disease is no longer responsive to curative treatment.
